RMIT Village Old Melbourne, once the Old Melbourne Hotel, opened to its first residents on 31st January 2005, and is now home to 454 students. All apartments were revamped in 2005 by 5-star hotel designers, Chhada Siembieda Australia, whose other projects include hotels and resorts in Hong Kong, Dubai, Fiji and the recently refurbished Hilton Hotel in Sydney.

The newly renovated Village was designed to create a lively and creative atmosphere with landscaped gardens, open spaces, and community meeting areas for residents. Facilities include a bar, outdoor heated swimming pool, student lounge with Foxtel and working spaces for design students.
